The Real Spirit of Christmas Colossians 3:1-17
Col 3:1) If you then are risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.
If you are a Christian than live like it.
(Col 3:2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Put your money where your heart is.
(Col 3:3) For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
You have a new Spirit living within you.
(Col 3:4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory.
Soon we will be hanging out with Christ.
(Col 3:5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Get your self together!
(Col 3:6) For which things' sake the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience:
(Col 3:7) In the which you also walked some time, when you lived in them.
(Col 3:8) But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(Col 3:9) Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;
(Col 3:10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Don’t live like that!
(Col 3:11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Put away your prejudice.
(Col 3:12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Put on Christ Jesus.
(Col 3:13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you.
(Col 3:14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
(Col 3:15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be you thankful.
(Col 3:16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(Col 3:17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
How To Give:
1. In the name of the Lord
(Col 3:17) And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
2. Of your own free will
(Exo 25:1) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
(Exo 25:2) Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that gives it willingly with his heart you shall take my offering.
(Exo 25:3) And this is the offering which you shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass,
(Exo 25:4) And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
(Exo 25:5) And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,
(Exo 25:6) Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
(Exo 25:7) Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
(Exo 25:8) And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
3. Give as the Lord has given to you
(Psa 136:25) Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endures for ever.
(Psa 136:26) O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endures for ever.
4. Give locally
(Num 30:2) If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
5. Give selflessly
(Phi 2:1) If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
(Phi 2:2) Fulfil you my joy, that ye be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(Phi 2:3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
(Phi 2:4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(Phi 2:5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
(Phi 2:6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
(Phi 2:7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
(Phi 2:8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
6. Give remembering that all things came from God in the first place
(Joh 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(Joh 1:2) The same was in the beginning with God.
(Joh 1:3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
(Joh 1:4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
